I have worked as a physiotherapist for 20 years in the NHS, private practice and lecturing at Sheffield Hallam University.  In recent years, I have developed an interest in lifestyle medicine, which is a holistic approach to managing health conditions. 

Working with many patients over the years helped me to see that the source of pain that people presented with was usually only part of the problem.  More detailed assessment would find that many people would also have poor sleep, high blood pressure, poorly controlled blood sugars, stressful jobs or family lives, which often meant less time to plan and prepare healthy meals or undertake regular physical activity and, ultimately, feel drained.

 

By looking at the person as a whole and addressing relevant lifestyle factors as a collective, it led to better outcomes for the original problem and usually improved the individuals overall health and quality of life.  This often led to improvements in many other aspects of that person's life, which they hadn't considered to be part of the issue. 

 

It is really rewarding to see people regain their health, reduce symptoms and start doing things they want to do again.  Zest Health and Wellbeing was set up to enable people to start living their best life.  So, when you're ready to take back control over your health, Zest is waiting to support you through your journey.

The Six Pillars of Health

The Zest Health & Wellbeing Reboot is an 8-week course designed around the six pillars of health for people who are feeling like they are functioning less than optimally in daily life.  This may show up as feeling tired a lot of the time, having less patience with loved ones, not being able to do physical activities they enjoy as well as they would like, due to fatigue, aches and pains, low mood, feeling overwhelmed, and a loss of zest for life.   

  

The Reboot programme will provide support, education and practical advice to enable people to Reboot their life and take control back over their health and wellbeing to enable a life full of quality, purpose and zest. 

  

The course consists of a weekly, one hour group session, which covers both education and practical tips on a range of pillars of lifestyle factors that all help contribute to optimising our overall health and wellbeing.  There will also be support from the practitioners and course members to help you along your journey.
